特定の分野で特に優れた資質を有すると認められる学生について、高等学校を卒業しなくても大学に、大学を卒業しなくても大学院に、それぞれ入学することができる制度の通称。例えば、高等学校に２年以上在学した者が、大学が定める分野で特に優れた資質を有すると認められた場合に大学に飛び入学することができる。ただし、飛び入学生を受け入れる場合、大学（大学院）も一定の条件を満たしている必要がある。2022年4月より高等学校卒業程度認定審査制度が開始され、文部科学大臣は、大学への飛び入学者について、高等学校卒業者と同等以上の学力を有することを認定することができる。この認定審査に合格することにより、高等学校卒業と同等の法的地位が与えられる。

A system by which students deemed to have outstanding skills in a particular field are granted admission to university without having graduated from high school or to a graduate school without having graduated from university. For example, students who have been enrolled at high school for at least two years may be granted an early admission to university if they are deemed to have particularly outstanding skills in a field stipulated by the university. However, the university (graduate school) must also satisfy certain conditions to grant students early admission.
The upper secondary school equivalency certification system was introduced in April 2022. Under this system, the Minister certifies that students granted an early admission have an academic ability equivalent to or higher than that of high school graduates. Students who pass the screening under this system will be assigned the same legal status as high school graduates.
