大学ランキング University Rankings
教育の評判、研究、論文引用、国際化、産学連携等の客観的数値又は主観的な評定に基づく複数の評価指標に重みを付けて加算し大学に順位を付けたもの。ランキングによって評価手法の選択、重み付けは様々である。集計手法を公表している大学の国際的なランキングは、2003年に上海交通大学が行った世界大学学術ランキングを契機として一気に普及し、報道機関、企業、大学等の様々な機関が作成し、発表している。ランキングの種類として、大学総合ランキング、専門分野ごとのランキング、特定のテーマを扱ったランキング等がみられる。
University Rankings 大学ランキング
A list in which universities are ranked in order according to scores calculated from multiple weighted evaluation indicators based on subjective and objective evaluation of reputation, research, citations, internationalization and industry collaboration. The weightings and evaluation techniques chosen vary from one ranking system to another. International university rankings whose calculation techniques are made public have been increasingly popular since the Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003 with news media, companies, universities and various other institutions beginning to compile and publish their own rankings. Types of ranking include overall university rankings, rankings by academic field and rankings that deal with specific themes.
