私立大学等経常費補助金 Subsidy to Private Institutions of Higher Education for Current Expenditures
私立の大学、短期大学及び高等専門学校の教育研究条件の維持向上、学生の修学上の経済的負担の軽減及び経営の健全性向上に資するために国から交付される、教育研究に係る経常的経費についての補助金。日本私立学校振興・共済事業団が、国から交付を受け、これを財源として各学校法人に対して補助される。大学等の運営に不可欠な教育研究に係る経常的経費について支援する「一般補助」と、各大学等の特色ある取組み等を支援する「特別補助」がある。一般に「私学助成」と呼ばれている。
Subsidy to Private Institutions of Higher Education for Current Expenditures 私立大学等経常費補助金
A subsidy paid by the government to fund current expenditure relating to education and research in order to maintain and improve the education and research conditions at private universities, junior colleges and colleges of technology, and to assist in reducing the economic burden of learning on students and improve the soundness of these institutions’ management. The Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan receives the subsidy from the government and uses it to provide financial assistance for each incorporated educational institution. There are two types of subsidy: the general subsidy, to fund current expenditure relating to education and research essential to the running of universities and colleges, and the special subsidy, which supports distinctive initiatives by each university and college.
