インスティテューショナル・リサーチ(IR) Institutional Research (IR)
高等教育機関が自機関に関する情報の一元的な収集、調査及び分析を実施する機能。教育や研究に関する様々なことについての計画立案、政策形成、意思決定を円滑に行うことを支援するための情報提供を目的としており、IRを専門に担当する部署や職員が置かれることもある。なお、米国には、これに類する概念としてIE（Institutional Effectiveness）がある。

The function through which a higher education institution gathers, researches and analyzes information about itself in a systematic and centralized manner. The purpose of this practice is to provide information that will support institutional planning, policymaking and decision-making relating to education and research. Many institutions have dedicated IR departments or staff. The United States has a similar concept, which is termed “institutional effectiveness” (IE).
