認証評価を実施する機関として文部科学大臣の認証を受けた評価機関。認証を受けるための基準については、大学評価基準、評価方法、実施体制等が学校教育法第110条第２項に規定する基準を適用するに際して必要な細目を定める省令（細目省令）に定められている。2021年５月現在、15の機関が認証評価機関として文部科学大臣から認証されている。

An evaluation organization certified by the Minister to conduct evaluation and accreditation. The criteria for certification are prescribed in the Ministerial Order Providing Details Required to Apply Standards Provided in Article 110, paragraph (2) of the School Education Act (Detailed Ministerial Order), with respect to the Standards for Evaluation and Accreditation, the methods and the administrative structure. As of May 2021, the Minister has certified 15 organizations as certified evaluation and accreditation organizations.
