大学の学部における４年間（医学、歯学、薬学の一部、獣医学は６年間）の課程。修了者には学士の学位が授与される。大学の教育課程においては、学部等の専攻に係る専門の学芸を教授するとともに、幅広く深い教養及び総合的な判断力を培い、豊かな人間性を涵養するよう適切に配慮しなければならないとされている。

A four-year program in a university, the successful completion of which leads to a bachelor’s degree, with the exceptions of medicine, dentistry, part of pharmaceutical sciences and veterinary science, which require six years enrollment. Universities are expected to design their undergraduate program so that students may be taught in specialized subjects of knowledge as well as develop their broad and profound learning and balanced judgment for their cultivation of integrated personality.
